  • This will be our Indenpence Day!

Well as of the last post I went an visited the folks for the 4th. We had a good time all in all. I tweaked my knee mowing the lawn before I left to visit them that with the 3.5 hour car trip made it pretty stiff when I got to there house. so I ended up spending most of my time with Ice on my knee and it elevated on a chair while I was visiting.

So besides being lame (physically) we did get to see the new Indiana Jones movie which all in all wasn't bad. It was good to see some familiar character faces. Sort of like old home week. On the 4th we had gram up to the house for some BBQ burgers and hot dogs.

Did I mention Gram turned 95 this year. She is an energizer bunny let me tell you. We played a couple hands of Kings Corner a multi player solitare variant. I won a few much to the chargrin of my family. I think they let me win to make me feel good.

Came back up to town on the 5th to see a friend that was up from California. Met up with him and his sister at a local pub and caught up. They are doing well and seem to have adjusted to that ever present Califonia sun.

Wow lots to catch up on. I think my fingers are going to burst into flames.

This week is going ok. Caught a head cold from a co-worker so been working to get rid of it. Yes Mom, drinking lots of water and getting lots of rest

I have also been house rental searching for my friends that are moving back into town from North Carloina. I think we found a place yesterday. They should be in town in late July early August. It a long drive from North Carolina to Washinton state after all.

Well better get to it. Talk to Y'all next week. Be safe and God bless

  • Blogitty Blah Blah...

I am heading home to see the folks for the 4th of July. I am looking forward to being on the East side of the State for a couple of days. Need to visit my redneck roots every so often as I am in a sea of liberals here in Bellingham.

It is not that bad really but sometimes I just shake my head at the city council and wonder if any of them have lick of sense in their heads. Hmmm I think today is a rant day for some reason .

Spent time on Sunday with some friends playing the new 4th Edition ruleset for Dungeons and Dragons. It was fun all in all. More an MMO/Board game then what I know from the D20 rule system. But fun none the less. It was also good talking with the guys as we haven't met up for few months.

My friends in North Carolina will be moving back to Bellingham in the near future (AKA end of July). It will be good to have them back in town as we have missed having them around driving our gaming and gathering tendencies.

That is pretty much it for now. Have a great 4th all and God Bless America!

  • A friend and Co-worker or mine's father passed away this week. My heart and prayers go out to their family.

Tom Hunter, a local musician and pastor who shared his music with children in Whatcom County public schools for decades, died early this morning after a short battle with Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease.

News of Hunter's death came from a blog that Hunter's wife, Gwen Hunter, and children had been updating for the public as the disease progressed (visit the Hunters' blog, here.)

Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease is an extremely rare and incurable degenerative brain disorder. In general, it is rapidly fatal.

Hunter had recently been hired as pastor of First Congregational Church, United Church of Christ in Bellingham before his diagnosis.

Hunter was appreciated by many for Christmas concerts at the Mount Baker Theatre and other activities, and Bellingham Mayor Dan Pike had declared June 5 “Tom Hunter Day” after learning of the pastor’s diagnosis.

  • Busy Monday....

The Delft Square mall burned down yesterday. One of the branches for the CU I work for was in there. Everyone made it out safe now we are in recovery mode.

The building was built in the 1920's and was the largest shopping mall east of the Mississippi at the time it was built.
